Packaging plays an important role as a medium in the marketing sector, in promotion campaigns, in defining the character of new products, as a setter of trends and as an instrument to create brand identity and shelf impact in the psyche of the customers.

Packaging Design is one of the design streams that teach the students how to design and package a product well. Those of you who are good at illustration techniques and have a creative streak can opt for this stream of design.

Well packaged products have a few things in common. Some of them have been listed out here:

  • A distinctive, unmistakable and eye-catching appearance
  • Well thought out design, shape and colour
  • The functional aspect of the packaging should be of prime importance
  • Innovatively Novel
  • Multisensory appeal
  • Efficiently conveys the products key highlights
  • Also display the appropriateness of the product

To learn packaging design you need to learn the basics of Graphic Design and Advertising. Many colleges and institutes in India offer a comprehensive Designing Course.
